Local Color: A Natural Dye and Permaculture Course

*This is a 6-part series* | May 14 - October 8 2024

Join Mariah Palmer from Local Earth and Kareen Erbe from Broken Ground as you embark on a journey of deepening your connection with the local landscape through the art of color, community, and permaculture.

In this 6-part series, we will follow the seasons and learn all about growing and foraging for local plants to produce color for natural dyeing. This series will cover everything from using a permaculture approach for site selection to planting and growing dye plants and working with those plants to discover a wide range of colors.
You will also learn about ethical foraging and the benefits of clearing invasive plants as a way to both honor the plants and support native species. In addition to learning the foundations of natural dyes, we will study various design techniques, including bundle dyeing, eco printing, and printing with direct application of mordants.
Working with these various techniques will give you a hands-on, in-depth understanding of the relationship between fiber, plant, and mordant. Join us for an immersive, hands-on experience this growing season!
This is a six-part in-person series that includes video recordings and written documentation for each lesson. While the course is designed for in-person instruction, you will have access to every lesson via video, written course materials, and quizzes. If you are not able to make every lesson in person, you can easily catch up via our online Teachable platform. You will also have access to all the materials in perpetuity, so you can go back and review the course long after the session is over.

Sky Oro Celebrating 5 years: Speed Networking

Facilitated by Sky Oro founder, Amanda Diehl. Amanda is genius at designing a networking event that feels comfortable, puts you at ease, and also lights a fire under you.

A fan favorite! We always have SO MUCH FUN in this low pressure networking atmosphere.

Our approach to speed networking is this:

- We ask some really intentional questions that are designed to help you go inward, get real, and then witness others doing the same.

- We give you the opportunity to practice boldly sharing about you and what you offer

- We invite you to be vulnerable about the things that you are needing support around

- We ask some fun questions that help you share more about who you are, in ways you might not think to share about yourself in the traditional networking setting.

Light refreshments provided, FUN inevitable!

You can expect to leave feeling lighter, more connected, and with some ideas for how to move yourself forward. You might event have some clarity around how you can support another woman that you just met!

You might even leave with a new gal pal or two.

Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00pm

Location: The Ellen Theatre | 17 W. Main St. Downtown Bozeman

Emmy nominee Julio Torres of Saturday Night Live writes, directs, and stars in “Problemista”. Torres stars as Alejandro, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador who dreams of bringing his ideas to New York City- but as his work visa is running out, a job assisting an erratic art-world outcast (Tilda Swinton - SUSPIRIA) might be his only hope to stay in the country. Deadline Hollywood Daily raves, “Julio Torres takes a simple story about immigration and human connection, and turned it into a comedic, surrealist fantasy that serves as an epic critique of capitalism.”
